Memorial Service to Be Held in Rancho Palos Verdes Sunday

A memorial service for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen E. O誰eil will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday July 15 at St. Peters By the Sea Presbyterian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes.

O誰eil, the supervising judge of the county痴 criminal courts, died Tuesday at his Rancho Palos Verdes home.

He was 56.

O誰eil had sat on the Los Angeles County bench at both the Municipal and Superior Court levels, since 1986.

An autopsy performed Wednesday proved to be inconclusive and a toxicology exam was ordered, but no foul play is suspected, coroner spokesman Scott Carrier said.

Results are expected in four to six weeks, he said.

O誰eil was a diabetic.

O誰eil is survived by his wife, Justice Patti Sue Kitching, of the Second District Court of Appeal, Div. Three, and two children, Kristin and Michael.

St. Peters By the Sea Presbyterian Church is located at 6410 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.
