Ninth Circuit Seeks Applicants for Bankruptcy Judge Position

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is soliciting applications for the office of bankruptcy judge for the Central District of California.
The vacant position is based in Los Angeles, where Judge Kathleen March recently left the court after being denied appointment to a second 14-year term. March has since established a Westside practice under the name The Bankruptcy Law Firm.
Applicants will be screened by a local committee, with finalists interviewed by a committee of circuit judges. The person recommended by that committee will have to undergo FBI and IRS background investigations prior to appointment by the full court, the Ninth Circuit Executive’s Office explained in a release.
Applicants must be admitted to practice in at least one state or the District of Columbia and have at least five years of relevant legal experience. Information and application forms may be obtained from the Ninth Circuit, or online at www.ce9.uscourts.gov.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. tomorrow.
