Davis Names Judges to San Francisco, Kings Superior Courts

Gov. Gray Davis has appointed lawyers to the bench in San Francisco and Kings counties.

Davis late Monday named Donald J. Sullivan to the San Francisco Superior Court and Thomas DeSantos to the Kings Superior Court.

Sullivan, 56, is a litigator with the Brandi Law Firm, which he joined in 1998. He represents primarily tort plaintiffs and serves as a Superior Court arbitrator.

Sullivan was previously an attorney with the San Francisco firm of Herron and Herron and before that for the California Department of Transportation.

He has served as president of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. He earned his undergraduate degree and law degrees at Santa Clara University.

He replaces Judge David A. Garcia, who retired.

DeSantos, 47, is a former president of the Kings County Bar Association. His practice includes family law, juvenile and criminal defense cases, estate planning and general civil litigation. He has served as a judge pro tem.

He is chair of the Kings County Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and earned his undergraduate degree at Stanford. His law degree is from USC.

He fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John G. OíRourke.
