Davis Appoints Prosecutor to Fresno Superior Court

Deputy District Attorney Gary R. Orozco was appointed yesterday to the Fresno Superior Court by Gov. Gray Davis.

A nine-year veteran of the Fresno District Attorney’s Office, Orozco will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Stephen Henry.

As a deputy district attorney, Orozco is currently prosecuting rape and child abuse cases for the Sexual Assault and Crimes Against Children Unit.

Orozco has also served on the Major Narcotics Unit, Felony Trial Team and Preliminary Hearing Team of the District Attorney’s office.

In addition to his work as a prosecutor, Orozco spent three years handling insurance defense work for the Fresno law firm of San Dell & Young before joining the District Attorney’s office.

Orozco has been a member of the California District Attorneys Association, Fresno County Bar Association, Fresno County Prosecutors Association, Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California, California Narcotics Officers Association, and La Raza Lawyers Asso­ciation.

He received his master of business administration and law degrees from Santa Clara University.

Orozco will receive a salary of $133,051.
