ALEX RICCIARDULLI

Superior Court judge

Alex Ricciardulli will be retiring as a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court after 21 years of service.

Next Monday will be his last actual day on the bench and will also be his official retirement date.

His appointment to the bench, by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, came on April 29, 2005. Ricciardulli was at the time a Los Angeles County deputy public defender, a post he had held since 1987, the year he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

He has served as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School and at the USC Gould Law School.

Several articles by him have been published in Advocate, the magazine of the Consumer Attorneys Associations for Southern California, and Verdict, published by the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

The judge commented:

“It has been an honor to serve the public along with a wonderful group of bench officers and staff. I enjoyed every assignment in the courts, especially my years in the Appellate Division.

“I plan to continue writing legal texts and columns and teaching as a law school adjunct, and I am really looking forward to a new undergraduate class I will be instructing this fall, which I call The Justice System.”
