Judge Walgren to Face Challenger
By a MetNews Staff Writer
Dan Kapelovitz, whose law firm is called “Radical Law Center,” has filed nominating papers for the office held by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Walgren, who is seeking reelection.
Kapelovitz had eyed a Superior Court open seat and had considered running for attorney general, but explained yesterday that “[i]t’s clearly easier to win against Walgren.” He has accused the judge of being biased in favor of the prosecution.
The candidate’ ballot designation is “Attorney/Experimental Filmmaker.”
Walgren, who was appointed to the bench in 2012 by then-Gov. Jerry Brown, has engaged the political consulting services of Crystal Litz.
