Los Angeles District Court Judge Christina L. Hills’s last day on the bench will be Feb. 27 and, after using earned vacation days, she will officially retire on April 14.

Hill was appointed to her post by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. She was at the time a court commissioner, a post to which she was elected by judges in 1998 after serving as a referee.

Her law degree is from Southwestern.

The judge was up for election this year but opted not to run. Three persons have filed declarations of intent to run for the office she now holds.

They are Irene Lee, a special assistant to District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Deputy District Attorney Angie Christides, and Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Carlos Dammeier.

As of mid-afternoon yesterday, Lee and Christides had taken out but not filed nominating petitions for the open seat, No. 14. Christides has also filed a declaration for Office No. 39.

Dammeier had not taken out a nominating petition for any of the five offices for which he has filed a declaration of intent.
