Judge Drew E. Edwards to Retire From L.A.S.C.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Drew E. Edwards’s last day on the bench will be July 31, after a career on the bench of nearly 23 years.
He will officially retire the following day.
A 1987 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law, he clerked for then-Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Senior Judge Robert Hugh McWilliams Jr. (now retired), worked for the law firm of Morrison and Foerster in its San Francisco office in 1988, joined the Denver law firm of Davis, Graham, and Stubbs in 1989, and became a deputy federal public defender for the Central District of California in 1990.
Four years later, Edwards went to work for USA Basketball in Colorado Springs, Colorado as general counsel, then became a Los Angeles County deputy alternate public defender, remaining art that post until his Sept, 23, 2006 appointment to the Superior Court by then-Gov. Gray Davis.
Edwards commented:
“It has been my honor for the past 22 years to dispense justice with a great team for the citizens of the great state of California. My plans post retirement include spending time with family and friends, travel, mediocre tennis and bad golf. After I do all that I’m going to find new ways to make myself useful.
