C.A. Justice Duarte to Retire

Third District California Court of Appeal Justice Elana J. Duarte, a former Los Angeles Superior Court judge, will retire at the end of May after 15 years on the court and more than 19 years of judicial service, it was announced yesterday.
Duarte was appointed to the Sacramento-based appeals court in December 2010 by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. She served as a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court from April 2007 to June 2008 and was then shifted to the Sacramento Superior Court where she served until she was elevated.
Duarte will be honored in May as Sacramento County Bar Association’s “Judge of the Year.”
