The Commission on Judicial Appointments yesterday confirmed the appointments of Alexander Giza and Cindy Pánuco as associate justices of this district’s Court of Appeal.

They will serve on Div. Three.

Giza, a member of the Los Angeles Superior Court since 2019, will replace Justice Anne H. Egerton, whose retirement will be effective on Sunday. Pánuco, who served on the Los Angeles Superior Court since 2024, succeeds Rashida Adams who has been elevated to the post of presiding justice of the division.

UCLA conferred a law degree on Giza and Pánuco is a graduate of the law school at Loyola.

The commission was comprised of Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Frances Rothschild, the senior presiding justice in this district.

The commission also confirmed Orange Superior Court Judge Maria Daghlian Hernandez as a Court of Appeal justice of the Fourth District’s Div. Three. She replaces Justice Maurice Sanchez, who retired.

On that panel, Presiding Justice Manuel Ramirez joined Guerrero and Bonta.
