Commission to Act on C.A. Nominations

Members of the Commission on Judicial Appointments will meet today in San Francisco to consider the nomination of Court of Appeal Associate Justice Tari Cody of this district’s Court of Appeal Div. Six as presiding justice of the Ventura-based panel on which she now sits and the proposed elevation of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Nicholas Daum as a justice of this district’s Div. Four.

Cody would replace Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert and Daum would succeed Justice Audrey Collins, both of whom retired.

The confirmation hearings will be streamed live on the California Courts Newsroom at https://newsroom.courts.ca.gov/. Cody’s hearing will commence at 9 a.m. and Daum’s one hour later.

The panel will be comprised of Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and the senior Court of Appeal presiding justice in this district, Frances Rothschild of Div. One.

Also to be considered today are Gov. Gavin Newsom’s nominations of Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Sonny S. Sandhu to the Fifth District Court of Appeal and Santa Clara Judge Charles Adams to the Sixth District Court of Appeal.
