Superior Court Suit Brought Over Alleged Bedbug Bites

A woman has brought suit in the San Bernardino Superior Court against a hotel based on having allegedly incurred bedbug bites during her stay there, declaring in her pleading that the court has unlimited jurisdiction because the amount in controversy exceeds $35,000.
Beverly Hills attorney Ilan N. Rosen Janfaza on Friday brought the action on behalf of Erika Infante against Ontario Airport Hotel and Conference Center and against its owner/manager, the Rancho Cucamonga-based Core 700 Hotel Venture, LLC. The complaint says that Infante checked into the hotel on Aug. 31, 2024, and the next morning “discovered multiple bumps and bite-like marks on her body.”
It contends that “Infante still has physical scarring and emotional scarring as a result of bedbug bites.”
Causes of action are set forth for battery, negligence, premises liability, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraudulent concealment, private nuisance, public nuisance, and breach of contract. Infante’s pleading seeks general and specific damages, punitive damages, and costs including attorney fees.
The case is Infante v. Ontario Airport Hotel and Conference Center, CIVSB2624901.
On its website, the Law Offices of Ilan N. Rosen Janfaza, A.P.C., says that “our practice focuses on personal injury claims, with the majority of our caseload relating to injuries that occur in hotels, motels and apartment buildings,” declaring:
“Bedbug injuries have become increasingly prevalent in hotels, motels, and apartments throughout Northern and Southern California.”
