Tung Nominated as Judge of Ninth U.S. Circuit

Ninth Circuit nominee

 President Donald Trump has nominated Jones Day partner Eric Tung, 41,  to serve on the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

If confirmed by the Senate, he will replace Judge Sandra S. Ikuta who will assume senior status. She was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2006.

Tung has served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia, now deceased, and Neil M. Gorsuch and to Justice. He has been an assistant United States attorney for the Central District of California.

His work at Jones Day centers on crafting appellate briefs and motions in commercial law cases.

Tung, whose law degree is from the University of Chicago, was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2011. He is a Republican.
