Three lawyers— Jill Casselman, Seza Mikikian, and Afsaneh Ashley Tabaddor, were appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday as judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Casselman, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Central District of California, replaces Judge Patricia Titus; Mikikian, a Los Angeles County deputy district attorney, succeeds Judge Stephanie M. Bowick; and Tabaddor, a former immigration judge in the Central District of California and presently a “distinguished visiting jurist” at Southwestern Law School, assumes the seat previously held by Judge Kenneth R. Freeman. Titus, Bowick, and Freeman all retired from the bench.
Boston University School of Law is Casselman’s alma mater; Mikikian received her law degree from Southwestern; and Tabaddor is a graduate of Hastings College of Law.
All three appointees are Democrats; so are five of the nine persons appointed to superior courts in other counties, with four being registered without stating a party preference.
