By a MetNews Staff Writer
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Sean Coen yesterday denied a motion to dismiss charges against Ninth District Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price who is facing 12 felony public corruption counts.
Coen set a preliminary hearing for Nov. 3.
The lawmaker, 74, is accused of conflicts of interest based on voting on projects on which his current wife, Delbra Pettice Richardson, was a subcontractor; he is also charged with embezzling about $33,800 in city funds by receiving medical benefits for Richardson, portraying her as his wife, at a time when he was still married to Lynn Suzette Price; and is alleged to have committed perjury in signing a Fair Political Practices form on which he failed to disclose conflicts. There are various additional allegations.
Price faces a potential maximum sentence of 11 years and four months of incarceration.
