Judge Ong Sets Retirement Date

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong’s last day on the bench will be Nov. 9, with his official retirement date, after using up earned vacation days, set for Feb. 21. 

He was appointed to the Long Beach Municipal Court in 1997 by then-Gov. Pete Wilson and became a member of the Superior Court in 2000 as the result of trial court unification.

Ong served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Central District of California from 1987-97 and as a Santa Ana deputy city attorney from 1984-87 and has held various teaching posts.

His law degree is from Loyola. He also has a master of laws degree in taxation from the University of San Diego.

The judge did not respond to a request for a comment as to his plans or reflections.
