Deputy District Attorney Victor Avila is unopposed for Los Angeles Superior Court Office No. 93, it has been learned.

The only other candidate to file a declaration of an intent to run for that seat, presently occupied by Judge Malcolm Mackey, is criminal defense attorney Michael Berg. Berg also filed a declaration with respect to two other seats and has decided to run for Office No. 137, held by Judge Dianna Gould-Saltman, his campaign consultant, Crystal M. Litz, said.

Rather than doing battle with one deputy district attorney, he will compete with Deputy County Counsel Tracey M. Blount, law school Associate Dean Luz E. Herrera of Texas A&M, and family law attorney Diana Ruth James.

Deputy District Attorney Jacob Lee, who also filed a declaration for Office No. 137, has decided to seek Office No. 39,  held by Judge Philip L. Soto. Others seeking that office are criminal defense attorney Ronda Dixon, parole attorney Steve Napolitano, and Deputy Public Defender George A. Turner Jr.

Avila, who graduated from Boston College Law School, was admitted to practice in 1997.
