Police Station Renamed in Honor of Margaret York

The Los Angeles City Council on Friday voted to rename the Northeast Community Police Station after the late Margaret "Peggy" York, wife of retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lance Ito. She was the Los Angeles Police Department’s first female deputy chief. York died Oct. 8 at age 80. She had been a homicide detective and inspired the television show, Cagney & Lacey. |
