Irish American Bar Members Meet With Ambassador

Members of the Irish American Bar Association met last Wednesday with Daniel Mulhall, the Republic of Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States. The reception took place at the residence of the Irish consul general, Marcella Smyth.

Mulhall joined the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs in 1978 and served as Ireland’s ambassador to Malaysia, Germany, and Great Britain before his appointment as ambassador to the United States in March 2017. He will retire from foreign service in September and will become the Global Distinguished Professor in Irish studies at New York University for the fall semester.

The reception was attended by several lawyers and judges instrumental in the Irish American Bar Association’s externship program, now on its thirty-third year. IABA sponsors students from six Irish law schools during the summer, who extern for judges in state and federal court.
