Gill, Soto Still Lead in City Attorney Race

Civil rights attorney Faisal M. Gill in first place and private practitioner Hydee Feldstein Soto appear to be headed for a Nov. 8 run-off for Los Angeles city attorney, under an update yesterday from the Office of Registrar-Recorder, though civil attorney Marina Torres is a close third.

Final certification is slated for Friday.

With nearly all ballots counted, the percentages are unchanged from last Friday. Gill, who has 24.22 percent; Soto is at 19.90 percent; Torres scored 19.87 percent.

As of Friday, 1,619,226 ballots had been counted; the figure is now 1,619,797.

In the race for Los Angeles Superior Court Office No. 90, Deputy Public Defender Kevin Thomas McGurk remains in third place. Deputy District Attorney Melissa Lyons is in the lead, followed by Deputy District Attorney Leslie Gutierrez.
