Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday appointed Pamela Dansby and Jannet Perez Santiso as judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court, and Orange Superior Court Judge Thomas Delaney was elevated to a spot on Div. Three of the Fourth District Court of Appeal.

Dansby, 54, has been managing attorney at Dansby Law Group APC since 2005 and was a Los Angeles County deputy alternate public defender 2000 to 2005, after serving five years as a deputy public defender in the county. Her law degree is from Loyola.

Santiso has been a Los Angeles County deputy public defender since 2007 and was an associate at the Cifarelli Law Firm LLP from 2006 to 2007. She earned her law degree at Western State

Dansby replaces Judge Holly Thomas who was appointed to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and Santiso succeeds Judge Kathleen Kennedy who retired.

Delaney, 55, has been on the Superior Court bench since 2014 and was a partner at Sedgwick LLP from 2002 to 2014 and an associate at Sedgwick Detert Moran and Arnold LLP from 1995 to 2001. He has a law degree from Loyola.

Justice David Thompson’s retirement created the vacancy. Delaney’s appointment must be confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments comprised of Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Attorney General Rob Bonta and the district’s senior presiding justice, Manuel Ramirez.

Dansby, Santiso and Delaney are Democrats. Fourteen appointments were made yesterday to superior courts in other counties, with three of the new judges having no party affiliation, with the others being Democrats.
