New Los Angeles Superior Court Judges Are Sworn In

Yesterday was the first day on the job for 12 new judges, elected last year to six-year terms. They are all former Los Angeles County deputy district attorneys except Linda Sun, who was a supervising assistant attorney general. Others are Manuel Alejandro Almada, David Berger, Emily Cole, Shannon Cooley, Kenneth M. Fuller, Kelly Kelley, Lana Soon Kim, Adan Montalban, Steve Morgan, Sherri L. Powell, and Scott Andrew Yang.

Swearing his “allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California” is Judge Scott Andrew Yang. Judge Lisa M. Chung administers the oath.

Judge David Berger, left, is administered the oath of office by retired Judge Elden Fox, in whose courtroom Berger had served as calendar deputy.

Judge Emily Cole, left, is sworn in by Judge Lisa Chung, supervising judge for the Antelope Valley Courthouse. All of the new judges will subsequently be sworn in at a formal enrollment ceremony.
