California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a persistent critic of President Donald Trump, took parting shots at the chief executive yesterday as his administration was coming to a close.

With Joseph Biden slated to take office as president at 9 a.m. today, Becerra, who has been designated to become secretary of health and human services upon confirmation by the Senate, issued press releases with these headings:

•“Attorney General Becerra Joins Challenge to Trump Administration’s ‘Secret Science’ Rule.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Files Lawsuit Challenging Trump Administration Rule Easing Manufacturer Compliance Requirements for Energy Efficiency Standards.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Challenges Trump Administration Failure to Strengthen Standards Regulating Ozone Pollution.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Challenges Trump Administration Attack on Longstanding Protections for Migratory Birds.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Files Challenge to Trump Administration Rule That Discounts Public Health Benefits of Reducing Air Pollution.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Leads Challenge to Trump Administration Rule Blocking Regulation of GHG Emissions from Stationary Sources.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Leads Challenge to Trump Administration Rule Relaxing Restrictions on Emissions from Super Polluters.”

•“Attorney General Becerra Files Lawsuit Challenging Trump Administration’s Final Assault on Endangered Species Act Protections.”

Also, Becerra sent out a press release with a heading not mentioning Trump but saying, in the first paragraph:

“California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today led a coalition of 15 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s final rule creating new, unnecessary classes of clothes washers and dryers based on cycle time.”

Other press releases might have been disseminated after press time yesterday.

Becerra has brought in excess of 100 suits against the Trump administration.
