Los Angeles Superior Court clerks’ office will be closed as of today, with reliance being on electronic filings, it was announced Friday.

Superior Court Presiding Judge Kevin Brazile said in an email to bench officers that court Executive Officer/Clerk Sherri Carter made the decision. The purpose, he related, is “to bolster our efforts to keep the public and employees out of our courthouses” in light of the coronaviris pandemic.

Brazile advised:

“[T]to support my orders for the handling of time-sensitive, essential functions during this crisis, Sherri and her management team are quickly working on moving this work from the courthouse to electronic and telephonic solutions.  Employees will be given the opportunity to telework to fulfill our duty to the public to continue to provide time-sensitive, essential services for the people of Los Angeles County.

“Please continue to be patient with this significant transition.  As the details of this plan are operationalized, I will provide more detail as soon as possible.”
