Lacey Proclaims Gascón ‘Unqualified’ to Be D.A.

By a MetNews Staff Writer

Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey, in a campaign email to supporters, yesterday labeled her challenger at the polls, former San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón, “unqualified” to head this county’s prosecutorial office.

Lacey declared:

“There is nothing that can prepare you for this job like courtroom experience. Throughout my 30-year career as a prosecutor, I have tried over 100 cases including 11 homicides. In 1999 I successfully delivered California’s first hate crime conviction. This experience has been invaluable in preparing me for the challenges that come every day.

“My opponent is a career politician, who has never tried a single case. Never stood before a jury. Never examined crucial evidence. He is completely unqualified to lead the largest prosecutorial office in the country.”

In asking for campaign donations, she remarked:

“We all know how much is at stake in this campaign, and we know that we are up against billions of dollars that have flowed in from outside the county.”
