Veteran Attorney Fredrick Weitkamp Dies

By a MetNews Staff Writer

Fredrick J. Weitkamp—an attorney for 65 years—has died at the age of 90, and a graveside service was conducted yesterday in Chatsworth.

Weitkamp, who received his law degree from USC, was admitted to practice on Jan. 28, 1953.

For 30 years, he and his son, John F. Weitkamp, were in a law partnership in Granada Hills. The father continued as a sole practitioner after his son moved to Palm Springs.

Both were heavily involved in the legal fraternity Phi Alpha Delta. Frederick Weitkamp was executive director of the group for 40 years, and John Weitkamp attended every annual convention for several years, meeting his future wife at one such event in 1982.

Fredrick Weitkamp’s widow, Betty Sue Weitkamp, said in an email to family and friends:

“Fred passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 in Holy Cross Hospital, just shy of his 91st birthday. I have been blessed  beyond measure when God brought us together as he has filled my life with so much love, joy and happiness and words cannot describe how much I miss him.”
