By a MetNews Staff Writer

Buchalter announced yesterday that three lawyers—Andrew Selesnick, Damaris L. Medina, and Suzanne Cate Jones—have joined the firm as shareholders in the Health Care Practice Group in Los Angeles.

Selesnick and Medina were previously with Nixon Peabody, and Jones’s former firm is Theodora Oringher.

Last year, Selesnick and Medina prevailed in the California Supreme Court case of Centinela Freeman Emergency Medical Associates v. Health Net of California, Inc. which established that health plans may be liable to providers of emergency services for negligently delegating their financial responsibility to individual practice associations.

Jones has successfully litigated and resolved health care related class action matters on behalf of hospital clients.

Selesnick received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, Medina earned hers, cum laudeat Suffolk University Law School, and Jones’s J.D., is from Loyola Law School.
