C.A. to Hold Special Session To Honor Presiding Justice Richard Schauer

The Court of Appeal for this district will hold a special session next month to honor former Div. Seven Presiding Justice Richard Schauer, who died May 10 at the age of 87.

Schauer was the first presiding justice of Div. Seven, serving from 1982 to 1984, after having served on the Los Angeles Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1963 to 1982. He served as the supervising judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Criminal Department in 1968 and became the court’s presiding judge in 1980.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loretta Choy Schauer, and two daughters, Kimberly Schauer DiGionanni and Stacey Schauer Donlan.

The special session is set to take place on June 12 in the Court of Appeal Courtroom, Ronald Regan State Building, North Tower, Third Floor, 300 South Spring Street, Los Angeles.
