Services are scheduled Thursday for Marilyn S. Green, founding partner of Long Beach’s Cantrell Green, who died Oct. 29 at the age of 87.

Green practiced workers’ compensation law after being admitted to the State Bar in 1952. She formed Cantrell Green—now Cantrell Green Pekich Cruz & McCort—with Dick Cantrell in 1971, and the firm continues to specialize in workers’ compensation and other types of disability law.

Green was of counsel to the firm at the time of her death. Cantrell died in 1992.

A graduate of Stanford University and of its law school, Green was honored by many organizations, including being named as Long Beach Bar Association Lawyer of the Year.

She also supported Women Lawyers of Long Beach and regularly attended meetings, that organization noted in an email sent to members.

Thursday’s services are set for 11 a.m. at Temple Israel, 269 Loma Avenue, Long Beach (562) 434-0996, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Su Casa Women’s Shelter in Long Beach, Women Lawyers of Long Beach said.
