Local Attorney Jamie Wright Reappointed to Medical Board

Los Angeles attorney Jamie E. Wright has been reappointed to the Medical Board of California, the office of Gov. Jerry Brown said.

The reappointment of the Los Angeles native was announced late Friday.

Wright, 30, has served on the board since last year. She has operated her own law office since 2011, handling general litigation and transactional matters.

She was previously an aide to then-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and was a state Assembly staff member.

Wright was an associate at Sedgwick Detert Moran Arnold LLP from 2008 to 2009 and regulatory and enforcement law clerk at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority from 2007 to 2008. Her law degree is from Hastings College of the Law and her undergraduate degree is from UC Berkeley.

She was a member of Berkeley’s Peace and Justice Commission while in school there. While in law school, she was an extern for Judge Martin Jenkins, then of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and now a justice of the First District Court of Appeal.

She also hosts NewswireLA on Los Angeles Channel 36.

This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wright is a Democrat.
