Michael Maddigan, a former partner with the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers, has joined Hogan Lovells.

The firm announced yesterday that Maddigan has been added to the firm as a litigation partner, explaining that his arrival furthers the firm’s recent strategy of continuing to expand its litigation practice.

“Mike’s arrival reinforces our global Healthcare practice and Life Sciences industry group,” the firm’s press release quoted Barry Dastin, who is Hogan Lovells’ managing partner in the Los Angeles office, as saying. “His healthcare litigation practice matches perfectly with Hogan Lovells’ deep healthcare regulatory expertise.”

Maddigan served as co-chair of O’Melveny & Myers’ health care and life sciences practice. He was the president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

He co-authored “Health Care Reform: Law and Practice,” a treatise dealing with the Affordable Care Act’s impact on employee benefit plans, employers, insurance providers, and state health insurance exchanges.

Maddigan serves on the boards of directors for the City Law Center and Los Angeles Legal Aid Foundation. Maddigan graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and received his law degree from UC Berkeley, where he was an articles editor of the Law Review.
