Gov. Jerry Brown yesterday named Timothy J. Stafford, 69, as a judge of the Orange Superior Court.

Stafford has been senior litigation partner at Wilson Harvey and Browndorf LLP since earlier this year, having been senior partner at Stafford and Associates from 1992 to 2012 and a partner at Stafford Ballog and Sullivan from 1986 to 1991.

Stafford was a partner at Beam DiCaro D’Antony and Stafford from 1977 to 1985. He was an associate at Beam and DiCaro from 1975 to 1976 and at Ruston Nance McCormick and DiCaro from 1972 to 1975.

The appointee is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and Southwestern Law School. A Democrat, he succeeds Judge Richard W. Stanford Jr., who was ordered removed from the bench last year for exhibiting favoritism in disposing of traffic citations issued to friends and relatives.
