Attorney John McNicholas to be Honored by Archdiocese of Los Angeles

 

John McNicholas, of McNicholas & McNicholas, will be honored at the 2013 Cardinal’s Awards Dinner, which each year honors members of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for service to the community.

Donations to the 2013 Cardinal’s Awards will go to Juan Diego House in Gardena, a home of formation for college-age seminarians who aspire to become diocesan priests.

McNicholas, whose clients have included both the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Vatican, is a former member of the State Bar Board of Governors.

He received his undergraduate degree from UCLA, and his law degree from Loyola.

The dinner will take place Feb. 9, at Wolfgang Puck’s Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood and Highland complex.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Hollywood Chamber PAC are sponsoring a debate for Los Angeles city attorney candidates Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Taglyan Cultural Complex, located at 1201 N. Vine St., Hollywood, CA 90038.

The debate will moderated by Robert Kovacik, co-anchor at NBC Channel 4.

Afterwards there will be a meet-and-greet with candidates Mike Feuer, Greg Smith, Carmen Trutanich, and Noel Weiss.

Residents and representatives of local businesses are encouraged to attend, and while admission is free to the public, the event is expected to be full and reservations are highly recommended.

Valet parking is available for $6.  There is also street parking in the area.

Primary elections are on March 5, with the general municipal election to be held May 21.

The Pasadena Bar Association will hold a welcome reception for its incoming president, Donald P. Schweitzer Thursday at  the offices of Christie, Parker & Hale, 655 N. Central Ave., Ste. 2300, Glendale, CA 91203-1445.

PBA members, sponsors, and those interested in joining the PBA are welcome.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and includes drinks and appetizers.
