By a MetNews Staff Writer

Services will be held today for retired attorney Leonard D. Black, who died Saturday at the age of 73.

A native of Toronto, Canada, he moved to California with his family in 1948, and later attended what is now California State University, Northridge. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, and later received a master’s in business administration from USC and a law degree from Loyola Law School.

Admitted in 1969, he practiced law for more than 40 years, mostly as a sole practitioner in the San Fernando Valley, most recently in Tarzana. He took inactive status in 2011.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce Black; his daughters, Sandy Youngblood and Los Angeles Deputy County Counsel Lauren Black; and three grandchildren.

Today’s memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at Eden Memorial Park. The family has requested that any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
