By a MetNews Staff Writer

A memorial service for family law attorney Wendy Landes is scheduled for today at 11a.m. at Kehillat Israel in the Pacific Palisades.

Landes died Thursday night after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert Landes, and three adult children, including twins.

She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977, graduating magna cum laude, and her JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at New York’s Yeshiva University in 1980. Landes was admitted to the New York bar in 1981 and to the State Bar of California in 1994.

She is the current chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee and was a member of the board of Levitt and Quinn, a non-profit family law center.

The “Wendy Walk,” now held on three different days in the cities of Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, has raised about $1 million dollars for research on treating Liposarcoma, the rare form of cancer with which Landes was diagnosed in 2008.
