David Wesley Officially Elected Presiding Judge

By a MetNews Staff Writer

David Wesley has been formally elected presiding judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court for 2013 and 2014, the court’s judges were notified yesterday.

In an email, a copy of which was obtained by the MetNews, judges were told that a committee of three judges, in accordance with local rules, certified the election of Wesley, currently the assistant presiding judge, after no other candidate filed by yesterday’s noon deadline.

Wesley’s unopposed election continues the court’s longstanding tradition of having the assistant presiding judge succeed to the top position.

The committee also certified that Judges Dan Oki and Carolyn Kuhl will be the only candidates for assistant presiding judges. Both announced their candidacies months ago.

Ballots for the election are to be mailed out Sept. 26 and are due back Oct. 3.
