O’Melveny & Myers LLP yesterday announced its selection of 10 economically challenged students from Los Angeles Unified School District high schools as the 2011 recipients of its Warren Christopher Scholarships.

Named in honor of the former U.S. Secretary of State and former firm chairman who passed away in March, the scholarship program has aided 148 students in its 18-year history, the firm said in a release.

The scholarships are slated to be presented during a ceremony at the Los Angeles Central Public Library on June 10. Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti is scheduled to speak at the 11:30 event.

This year’s recipients are: Nancy Brito of Narbonne High School; Alan Carrillo of Edward Roybal High School; LaTroy Gates of Middle College High School; Maricarmen Hernandez of South Gate High School; Jasmin Jones of the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies; Sang-Yoon Kim of the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies; Andrea Mosqueda of Gardena High School; Yesenia Ortiz of Grover Cleveland High School; Azucena Sanchez of Thomas Jefferson High School; and Jeanette Yue of Downtown Magnets High School.
