Jan. 30 Services Set for Attorney James Robie

A memorial service for attorney James R. Robie of Robie & Matthai APC, has been scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30, Los Angeles County Bar Association officials said yesterday.
Robie, who died Sunday while scuba diving near Catalina island, was a member of LACBA’s executive committee. His wife and legal partner, Edith Matthai, is a past president of the organization.
The 3:30 p.m. gathering, which officials described as “celebrating Jim’s life,” is slated to take place at the Bel Air Bay Club, located at 16801 Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades.
LACBA officials also said a memorial website for Robie had been established at jamesrobie.com, and should be operational today.
In lieu of flowers, Robie’s family and firm have requested that contributions in his honor be made to Public Counsel, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, or Heart of Los Angeles.
Robie was 61.
