Services have been scheduled for former California Treasurer Matt Fong, who died last Wednesday of cancer.

Fong’s funeral is to be held Thursday at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., of which he was a graduate. A memorial service has been scheduled for June 18 at 10 a.m. at the Whittier Area Community Church, 8175 Villaverde Drive in Whittier.

Fong, who was 57, served as state treasurer from 1995 to 1999, and later served as special counsel at the firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, where he practiced from 1985 to 1990 before launching his political career. He clerked at the firm while attending Southwestern Law School, where he was a trustee at the time of his death.
