Southwestern Law School yesterday announced its selection of Gerald Agnew and Bruce Brusavich, co-founders of AgnewBrusavich, as the recipients of its Alumni of the Year Award.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg was also chosen as the school’s Outstanding Judicial Officer, a spokesperson said.

The honors are slated to be presented at an annual on-campus alumni association reception April 14.

Agnew graduated cum laude from Southwestern, where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review, in 1974.

During the course of his legal career, a spokesperson for the school said Agnew has successfully tried over 100 civil jury trials in catastrophic injury and wrongful death actions.

He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a master  in the American Inns of Court, and a fellow in the International Academy of  Trial Lawyers, the spokesperson said.

Brusavich earned his law degree from Southwestern in 1980, and has since focused his practice on personal injury, insurance bad faith,  business litigation, elder abuse, professional malpractice, product liability and wrongful death, the spokesperson said.

The attorney is a member of the Judicial Council of California’s Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee and is a past-president of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and Consumer Attorneys of California.

Rosenberg is a 1975 graduate of Southwestern. He spent 20 years in private practice before becoming a commissioner for the Beverly Hills Municipal Court in 1995, and the Santa Monica Superior Court in 2000. Rosenberg became a judge in December 2000.

Over the years he has maintained a close relationship with the school, serving as  a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the host  of Inn of St. Ives dinners, and a judge for the Bonelli Trial Advocacy Competition.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:30 following a cocktail reception and silent auction benefiting the Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Those interested in attending the event are asked to contact the Southwestern’s Institutional Advancement Office by email at alumni@swlaw.edu or calling (213) 738-6814).  The cost to attend is $40 per person.
