Court Appointed Special Advocates of Los Angeles yesterday announced the addition of Los Angeles entertainment law attorney Jeff Biederman to its board of directors.

Biederman, a partner with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, said that he has “always felt incredibly lucky” and “tried to ‘give back’ ”  through teaching and various charitable efforts throughout his career.

“CASA/LA is a great opportunity to further pursue that goal,” he said.

The attorney sat on the Board of Directors for the High Hopes School from 2000 until 2005, and has served on the Los Angeles board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign since 2009.

He said he plans to help CASA/LA “extend its relationships in the entertainment industry, so that it can leverage those relationships to reach a far broader audience of future volunteers and charitable contributors to a very worthy cause.”

The attorney graduated from Cornell University and Vanderbilt Law School, and is the co-author of the casebook, “Law and Business of the Entertainment Industries,” Fifth Edition.

Founded in 1978, CASA/LA is a non-profit organization which assists children in the dependency court system.
