DLA Piper yesterday announced the addition of Maria C. Rodriguez as a partner in its Los Angeles office’s Labor and Employment practice.

She made the lateral move from the Los Angeles office of Winston & Strawn.

Michael Meyer, managing partner of DLA Piper’s Los Angeles office, remarked that Rodriguez’s employment law practice “complements DLA Piper’s strategic objective to expand the capabilities of the firm’s labor platform in California.”

With her addition to the firm, Meyer said, “we are able to further strengthen our employment litigation offering for the numerous clients who seek our guidance on these complex issues.”

Michael Sheehan, US chair of DLA Piper’s Labor and Employment practice predicted that Rodriguez “will be an important asset to our national labor and employment practice” since her “extensive experience serving clients on a broad range of employment matters further deepens our offering amid a very litigious climate facing today’s employers.”

Rodriguez represents and counsels US-based employers, as well as foreign companies doing business in the US, in matters involving wage and hour issues, discrimination, wrongful termination and harassment, employee coaching and performance documentation, trade secrets, employee mobility and restrictive covenants, unfair business practices, executive and employee contracts, and employment policies, according to a firm release.

She also trains executives and managers on behalf of employers about employment laws and effective management, in English and Spanish.

The attorney is a member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar’s Labor and Employment Law section, and a past president of the Cuban-American Bar Association.

Rodriguez graduated from UCLA before attending Loyola Law School and joining the State Bar in 1998.
