By a MetNews Staff Writer

Dykema yesterday announced the addition of Steven E. Peden to the firm’s Los Angeles office, as a member of its Corporate Finance Practice Group.

Peden made the move from Steptoe & Johnson LLP.

Rex E. Schlaybaugh Jr., Dykema’s chairman and chief executive officer, praised Peden’s “well-established reputation for his representation of clients involved in high-level business transactions.”

Schlaybaugh predicted that “the addition of a lawyer of [Peden’s] talents will add considerable depth to our already strong corporate finance team and underscores the firm’s commitment to expand our transactional capabilities in Los Angeles and nationally.”

Peden’s practice focuses on the representation of privately-held businesses in connection with private debt and equity transactions, venture capital transactions, and mergers and acquisitions, according to a firm release.

He also counsels clients on strategic partnerships, corporate governance, and executive retention and compensation.

The attorney is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and serves on the executive committee of the organization’s Business and Corporations Section. He is also chair of that section’s legislative subcommittee.

Peden attended the University of the Pacific and University of Denver College of Law before admittance to the State Bar in 1977.
