Armenian Bar Association to Honor 20 as ‘Rising Stars’

Thirteen Armenian-American attorneys in Los Angeles County are among the inaugural recipients of an award from the Armenian Bar Association, the group said Friday.

The 13 are among the “20 Rising Stars Under 40” who will be honored later this month because they are “successful in their professions, leaders within their communities, and dedicated to their Armenian heritage,” according to a release from the association.

The local honorees are Armen Akaragian of Mardirossian & Associates, Inc. in Los Angeles; Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney Michael Amerian; Sherman Oaks sole practitioner Hovanes Margarian; Armen Martin of Liner Grode in Los Angeles; Ara A. Babaian of Ervin Cohen & Jessup LLP in Beverly Hills; Nareg Gourjian of the Gourjian Law Group in Glendale; Mampre Pomakian of the Los Angeles Unified School District Office of General Counsel; Aram Ordubegian of Arent Fox LLP in Los Angeles; Annie Hovanessian of Vulcan Materials Company in Burbank; Chris K. Safarian of Allen Matkins in Los Angeles; Raffi Kassabian of Reed Smith LLP in Los Angeles; Nicole Simonian of Bryan Cave LLP in Santa Monica; and Lara Kayayan of Home Savings of America in Los Angeles.

Of the seven other recipients, one practices in Northern California, four in other parts of the United States, one in Canada, and one in Hong Kong.

The awards presentation is scheduled for July 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Pandora on Green Restaurant, located at 33 W. Green Street in Pasadena.
