Governor Appoints Attorney to Welfare Agency Post

Gov. Jerry Brown yesterday appointed Sacramento attorney Donna Campbell deputy secretary for legislative affairs at the California Health and Human Services Agency.

This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $125,196.

Campbell, 52, previously served as the deputy secretary for legislation and general counsel at the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency from 1996 to 2001, and was deputy director for legislation at the Department of Fair Employment and Housing from 1994 to 1995.

She attended CSU Northridge and California Western School of Law before joining the State Bar in 1984.

Campbell is a Democrat.
