AOC Seeks Feedback on Impact of Branch Budget Reductions

The Administrative Office of the Courts is requesting feedback on the impact reductions to the judicial branch budget have had on attorneys, their clients and members of the public who access trial court programs and services throughout the state.

Members of the Bench-Bar Coalition were solicited this week by the Office of Governmental Affairs to assist in gathering information to convey to the legislative and executive branches how access to justice has been impeded in order to emphasize the need to restore funding for the courts.

“To be most effective, we must capture and share clear, meaningful examples of what these reductions mean in human terms and how access to justice has been compromised in California,” Donna Hershkowitz, assistant director of the OGA, advised BBC members.

Hershkowitz said she will aggregate similar stories to present a picture of the cumulative effects on the public.
