By a MetNews Staff Writer

Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP yesterday announced that Guy N. Halgren has been re-elected to a fourth consecutive term as chairman, becoming the first person in the firm’s history to do so.

Benjamin R. Mulcahy, a New York-based partner and member of the executive committee, opined that the firm was “very fortunate” to have Halgren remain at the helm for another three-year term.

Mulcahy called Halgren “smart, fair and forward-thinking,” and credited the chairman with having “been instrumental in growing the firm in terms of size, locations, and practice areas, while preserving Sheppard Mullin’s tradition of collegiality and entrepreneurship.”

According to a firm spokesperson, Sheppard Mullin has grown to more than 500 attorneys, a 70 percent increase from 2001, when Halgren was first elected.

During Halgren’s tenure, the firm has added offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanghai, expanding from four to a total of 11 locations worldwide.

In related news, Costa Mesa attorney Robert S. Beall, co-chair of Sheppard Mullin’s Business Trial practice group, was re-elected to a three-year term as the firm’s managing partner. He has held this position since 2005.

Judy V. Davidoff, a partner based in the firm’s San Francisco office, was also elected to the firm’s executive committee.
