The Lesbian and Gay Lawyers Association of Los Angeles has announced that it will be honoring Eric A. Webber of Irell & Manella LLP and The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network at its 31st Annual Awards Dinner Gala on Feb 6.

California Supreme Court Justice Carlos R. Moreno, the sole dissenting justice from the high court decision upholding the state ballot initiative banning same-sex marriage, is scheduled to serve as the keynote speaker at the event, slated to take place at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Webber, who currently serves on Lambda Legal’s National Leadership Council, is a past co-president of LGLA and current senior vice president of The Los Angeles County Bar Association and will be honored for his years of dedicated service to LGLA, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and the legal community at large with the Co-Presidents Award, LGLA said.

The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a non-partisan, nonprofit, legal services watchdog and policy organization, will receive LGLA’s 2010 Community Service Award in recognition of the group’s “extraordinary commitment to defending military personnel against the U.S. military’s discriminatory Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy,” LGLA added.

Tickets for the event are $120 for LGLA members, $135 for non-members and $75 for law students and may be obtained by calling LGLA at (213) 486-4443, the group said.
