By a MetNews Staff Writer

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has reselected Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as its principal outside counsel, the firm announced yesterday.

Sheppard Mullin has represented the group since 2005.

The organization identifies its mission as promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Blaine Templeman, partner and co-chair of Sheppard Mullin’s LGBT attorney organization, Out at Sheppard, said the firm was “proud to represent GLAAD and support the organization through donations and pro bono representation.”

He added that the firm was “honored to be chosen by GLAAD as their ‘go-to’ legal counsel.”

Jarrett Tomas Barrios, president of GLAAD, praised Sheppard Mullin’s attorneys as having “distinguished themselves through their achievements, knowledge and experience, as well as their commitment and dedication to the LGBT community and its issues.”

He also said the organization was “thrilled” to continue its relationship with the firm.
