The family of U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper of the Central District of California, who died Friday at age 69, has announced that a private service will take place today, but that well-wishers may view a streaming video online.

Those wishing to view the 1 p.m. service are directed to visit the Kehillat Israel Reconstructionist Synagogue website at and select the Sanctuary Camera link in the left navigation bar.

Ninth U.S Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Alex Kozinski said in an e-mail Friday that a memorial fund is being established in Cooper’s honor in lieu of flowers.

Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge McCoy said that a memorial service will likely be scheduled at a later date.
